PERFECT ORDER

Within the Material Handling Industry, many have been talking about the Perfect Order and Perfect Order Index, which Kate Visatek, Founder of Supply Chain Visions Ltd., has done many studies on and written much about in trade press.

The Perfect Order Index is a measuring tool for companies to measure:

  • their order accuracy
  • their on time fulfillment cycle to their customers
  • Improvements within their supply chain system

In the fast paced e-commerce fulfillment world, with order profiles being very small, the Perfect Order Index is becoming the most important measurement tool today. Adding a paper component to the order process often inhibits the success of the Perfect Order.  PSI Engineering fondly referred to as paper handling experts, have implemented the Perfect Order concept on the distribution center (DC) floor with great success.

Installation:  Leading e-commerce Lingerie Apparel Company

Manual packing station was prone to errors as operators required to place 2-3 items in each package

A large apparel retail and e-commerce company planned to build a new DC in the
Mid-Western USA. They wanted to automate their manual flexible package, packing station area. The process was prone to errors as their operators were required to place multiple components into the package along with product ordered. The extra components included the necessary ship label, invoice, at least two catalogues as well as the ordered item.

PSI Engineering’s solution was to provide the Product & Document Fulfillment System™ (PDFS), a patented solution which is a completely automated, integrated

1,320 Perfect Orders per hour. Every order is 100% guarantied to be correctly assembled, correctly labelled with the correct documents included.

solution that includes PSI’s Print Feeder SF to laser print the invoice and feed it into the correct order, LC In-Feeder to feed the catalogues into the correct order, Capri Bagger to package the correctly assembled order, Thermal Label Applicator to correctly print and apply the shipping label as well as conveyors, bar code scanners for validation of all components and three separate reject stations to guaranty the correct order will be sent to the shipping area 100% of the time. The order throughput for this automation runs at an average of 22 orders per minute or 1320 Perfect Orders per hour. Every order is 100% guarantied to be correctly assembled, correctly labelled with the correct documents and products included.
