PSI ENGINEERING CASE STUDY

Print Feeder Case Study

Apparel Mail Order Company

Before Installing a PSI Print Feeder

Print Feeder/Inserter

Packing Slips would be generated for 2,500 – 5,000 items per day. These packing slips would be produced at night.

In the morning pickers would use the packing slips as pick tickets.

Products were thrown in tubs with the packing slips

Tubs of items would be pushed to bagging system. The bagging system would only work if the pack slip was attached to the item.

Therefore for 1 hour every morning, 10 people would match packing slips with the correct item and tape packing slip to each.

The Bagging machine would scan the barcode on each packing slip. This would tell the system which catalogues etc. to include with each particular order. It would then wrap the order, attach a shipping label and send out to shipping.

After Installing a Singles Unit Involving PSI Print Feeder

A simple picking document is used that includes the barcode that is applied to item as it is picked. Items are then thrown into the bagging system.

The Barcode on the attached pick slip tells the PSI Print Feeder/Inserter to generate a packing slip and what to include on the packing slip.

ROI Provided By PSI Print Feeder Solution

Previously, for 1 hour every morning, 10 people would sort packing slips with correct item and tape packing slip to each item.

Therefore savings = (10 people x 1 hour) x 22 days monthly x $15 hourly = $3,300 monthly x 12 = $39,600 savings per annum.
